Dr. Lahouaria Hadri of Mount Sinai is an extremely educated individual with a career focusing on cardiopulmonary and vascular diseases such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

In earlier years of her education, Dr. Hadri journeyed through universities and hospitals in France, Boston, and New York, learning more about biology, physiology, and cardiovascular diseases. Eventually, she earned her Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Physiology from the University of Pharmacy PARIS XI, Chȃtenay-Malabry, & Pitié-salpȇtrière School of Medicine. 

Throughout the course of her career in science, Dr. Hadri has committed herself to meticulous research aimed at uncovering the unknowns about her field. Ultimately, her hope is to bring attention to and find cures for some of the mysteries associated with complex cardiovascular and lung diseases. Dr. Lahouaria Hadri of Mount Sinai is currently the aforementioned hospital’s Assistant Professor of Medicine, Cardiology, Cardiovascular Research Institute, and the Icahn School of Medicine. In her career at Mount Sinai Hospital, Dr. Hadri contributes greatly to the academic pursuits of young scientists, researchers, and healthcare professionals wishing to advance further in this field. Her own research has led to the publication of countless peer-reviewed journal articles, oral presentations, books and chapters, published abstracts, and more.

From a young age, Dr. Hadri had an intense interest in conducting experiments and investigating the basis of a disease. With this distinguished passion following her throughout her developmental stages, Dr. Lahouaria Hadri of Mount Sinai dedicated herself to this eventual career in medical research, motivated to contribute to the existing body of knowledge in medical sciences. This complex career path requires both intellectual and emotional resilience, especially as a woman coming to the United States to gain status in this challenging career. Dr. Hadri allowed her determination to fight her battles, which led to her earning a well-deserved standing among other medical scholars and scientists.

Dr. Hadri’s current research objective is to provide an in-depth analysis of calcium handling proteins’ roles and their cellular signaling networks in cardiovascular and lung diseases. In so doing, Dr. Lahouaria Hadri of Mount Sinai and her team are hoping to define a platform for the design of innovative therapeutic strategies using gene and drug-targeted therapies.

Currently, Dr. Hadri is a long-standing member of various professional organizations, the most recent of these being the Association for Women in Science. Many of her other memberships stem back to 2007, with her adding more organizations to this list ever since. Also adding to her career’s success is her long list of honors and awards that have been in direct recognition of her contributions to science and medical research. Dr. Hadri is a repeat recipient of the Cardiovascular Medical Research and Education Award and has numerous other awards to her name in recognition of her innovative projects, poster presentations, previous academic distinctions, and young investigative work.
